How Google Sitemap could help your website to list in Google Search?

Here is cool solution from Google. Google Sitemaps (Beta) is very easy to
configure and manage tool, which tells Googlebot (Google software to crawl the
web for its search engine listing) about the pages in your website to be
indexed.
Below are the simple steps to
configure the Google Sitemaps for you website:

Register with Google
Sitemap:
A.
Go to
Website:
https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=sitemaps”
B.
Provide
the required information and create a Google Sitemap account.
Note: You could submit Google
Sitemaps without registering to Google. But registering provides tracking
mechanism, which is very useful.

Creating a Sitemap (XML
File):
You could create the sitemap in two
ways:

Use the 3rd Party Tools:
The third party
tolls are very easy web based or stand alone program. These programs render to
your website and generate the sitemap for you.
Example:
Go to: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com and follow 4
simple steps.
Note: You could use the Google
recommended sitemap creation tools at: http://code.google.com/sm_thirdparty.html

Do it
yourself:
With the little knowledge of XML
format, you could create the sitemap for your website by
yourself.
Here are the
steps:

Uploading the
Sitemap:
Upload your Sitemap to your site in
the highest level directory you want search engines to
crawl.
Example:
Suppose your website is www.example.com and physical location of your website
content is “/example.com/”.
You
should upload the sitemap file i.e. example-sitemap.xml to the server at
“/example.com/example-sitemap.xml”
Note: Once you upload the
sitemap file on server, don’t forget to check it in your
browser.
i.e. http://www.example.com/example-sitemap.xml
4.
Submitting the above sitemap to
Google:
A. Go to https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps
B. Login through the ID created in first step.
C. Click on ‘Add a Sitemap’.
D. Enter your Sitemap URL. (i.e. http://www.example.com/example-sitemap.xml)
and submit it
Now you are all set.
Keep checking, modifying and resubmitting the sitemap to Google every
time you update your website.
